2024 Nissan LEAF Performance and Battery and charging

2024 Nissan LEAF Performance, Battery, and Charging

The 2024 Nissan LEAF is a remarkable and famous EV, as it was one of the first mass-market models. The five-seater hatchback has plenty to offer, with comfort, interior design, and technology integration at the forefront of its many features.

Power

Power

The hatchback features two motors and battery pack options. The base SV trim has 147 horsepower and 236 lb-ft torque. Higher-tier Plus models receive a more powerful motor. This motor produces 214 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque.

Battery

There are two battery options available, each belonging to its own trim. The SV trim receives a 40 kWh battery, which is suitable for the motor and offers fair efficiency. However, it has a limited range. The SV Plus trim has a bigger battery to match its more powerful motor. The 60 kWh battery has a larger range but will require longer charging times.

Charging

The hatchback can be charged in public or at home with the 240-volt outlet. The 40 kWh battery will charge within 7.5 hours, while the 60 kWh option will take around 11 hours to completely charge. This charging can be done with a level-2 public charger or an installed charger at your home.

If you’re in a hurry, you can use DC quick charging. This option has more limited stations available but is extremely fast. A quick charge can take the 40 kWh battery from zero to 80 percent in 40 minutes. The 60 kWh battery will take 40 minutes on a 100 kWh quick charge and 60 minutes on a 50 kWh quick charge.

While this is the slowest option, the 2024 Nissan LEAF has a 120-volt charging cable for a level-1 charge. This method can take around 20 hours. However, a 120-volt outlet is easy to find in almost any location, such as at home or office buildings.

Efficiency

Both model’s motors have an efficiency rating of 1.9 Le/100km in the city and 2.4 Le/100km on the highway. As such, both trims are efficient in terms of power usage while driving.

Range

The 2024 Nissan LEAF's 40 kWh battery has a range of 240 km. The larger 60 kWh battery boasts a significantly increased range of 342 km.
